The dynamics of the university city Leuven is an asset for attracting top scientists and investors to the Health Sciences campus. The collaboration platform Leuven MindGate commits to establishing an attractive business climate, job creation and entrepreneurship in the Leuven area. Via Leuven MindGate, companies such as Materialise, Imec, ThromboGenics and iMinds work together with KU Leuven, the city of Leuven and UZ Leuven to help build the future of the region.
Innovative care and technology
The hospital and the Biomedical Sciences Group are the engine for quite a number of spin-off companies within the medical technology domain. New discoveries in care or technology are given the chance to follow a valorisation itinerary. KU Leuven Research & Development (LRD), the office that manages the university's patent portfolio, has its own leg on the campus. Profits flow back to the hospital and the university, so that these can re-invest in new ideas. It is therefore not by chance that the Reuters press agency has named KU Leuven the most innovative university in Europe for three years running.
