Camera surveillance

UZ Leuven wants to create a safe environment for its patients, visitors and staff. To this end, our internal security service uses surveillance cameras, among others.

Surveillance cameras are located in both publicly accessible and non-public places. The legal pictogram on camera surveillance, which is visibly present, reminds you that you are being filmed.

Recordings are stored for a maximum of 30 days. Access to and use of the images is restricted in accordance with the right to privacy and the principles of data protection law.

Recordings will be passed on to the police if criminal offences or suspicious situations have occurred. This may be at the request of the police or on our own initiative.

Our internal security service (0419.052.173) is insured against bodily harm or material damage resulting from the performance of its private security activities. Injured parties may apply directly to Amlin Insurance SE (Koning Albert II-laan 37, 1030 Brussels). The policy number is 99.053.700.
