Why does UZ Leuven process your data?

UZ Leuven processes your personal data for one or more of the following purposes: 

Patient care

The provision of preventive medicine or medical diagnosis, the provision of care (e.g. medical, paramedical, nursing and social) or treatment to the individual or a relative or the management of health services, in the interest of the individual; medicine management;

Operation of UZ Leuven

Collection and processing of data necessary for the daily operation of UZ Leuven, including patient identification and follow-up, patient administration and billing, on-call systems;

Quality of care

Collection and processing of all data related to medical and paramedical diagnostic and therapeutic practices administered to patients with the aim of improving quality of care;

Patient registration

Registering medical personal data, residence and contact details of patients for internal purposes and as part of government-mandated registrations, as well as for research and policy purposes;

Scientific research

Scientific research is also part of the core tasks of a university hospital. The aim of that scientific research is to improve knowledge about disease and health and provide new insights that ultimately lead to new or better therapies for patients.
