Medical prescription required
You will always need a prescription from your doctor for this test. Bring this prescription with you on the day of the test.
Preparation
No specific preparation is required for an NO measurement.
For a reliable result, we recommend not smoking for 4 hours before the test.
Procedure
Duration: 5 minutes
- Exhale fully.
- Then, inhale fully through a filter.
- Next, exhale again through a filter.
- Try to exhale as evenly as possible.
- The measuring device provides an animation indicating how hard you need to blow.
- After 30 seconds of waiting, repeat the test.
In cases of lung or airway infections, the NO value will be elevated.
Normal value for adults: < 25 ppb
An NO measurement is a completely safe and painless procedure.
