General X-ray
X-rays (RX) are absorbed by certain tissues in the body. The rays that pass through are used to create an image of the tissues: the X-ray image.

Specific examinations

For the X-rays listed below, an appointment is required. You can find details on booking an appointment and the procedure on the relevant examination page.

General X-Ray

No appointment needed

A general X-ray always requires a prescription from your doctor. Please bring this prescription on the day of the examination.

  • No need to book an appointment.
  • Gasthuisberg: weekdays between 08:00 and 17:00.
  • Pellenberg: weekdays between 08:00 and 16:00.

Preparation

Before a general X-ray, inform the nurse if you think you might be pregnant.

Procedure

Duration: approximately 5 to 10 minutes

  • For a general X-ray, you must remove clothing covering the area being examined.
  • Remove all jewellery.
  • Do not move while the images are being taken.
  • Several short images will be taken, each from a different angle.
