Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI)
The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) is a global effort by WHO and UNICEF to implement practices that protect, promote, and support breastfeeding. The initiative ensures that these hospitals strive to provide high-quality care, support, and guidance to mothers and babies from pregnancy until discharge. EASO obesity clinic
The obesity clinic has received accreditation from the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO). Thanks to this accreditation, UZ Leuven is a member of a renowned European expert network dedicated to obesity. Read more about this EASO accreditation.
ENETS Centres of Excellence (CoEs)
UZ Leuven has obtained accreditation from the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society e.V. (ENETS) Centres of Excellence (CoEs). With this accreditation, UZ Leuven is part of a community committed to research, education, and international collaborations in the field of neuroendocrine tumours.

FlaQuM
The FlaQuM model, consisting of three pillars (thinking–doing–learning), has gained international recognition and validation from the International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association (ISQuaEEA). This model is applied in quality thinking, doing, and learning within UZ Leuven and was externally assessed in 2023 through the FlaQuM Challenge. In 2023, UZ Leuven received both a FlaQuM Co-Creation Award and a FlaQuM Challenge Award. Read more about FlaQuM.

For a number of specific activities, UZ Leuven holds various ISO certificates (International Organization for Standardization):
- ISO 9001: hospital pharmacy and Central Sterilisation Department (CSA)
- BELAC accreditations for, among others, ISO 15189, ISO 17025, ISO 17020, etc.: for diagnostic activities within the human genetics centre, forensic medicine, laboratory medicine and pathological dissection, among others
