All master theses must go through the OBC decision tree (SCONE). When going through the OBC decision tree, depending on the answers to the questions asked, you will receive an advice from OBC, you will be referred to EC Care, EC Animal Experiments or EC Research, or amendments to already approved projects will be referred to the ethics committee that gave the original ethics advice. If, as a function of answering the questions in the decision tree, you are advised to submit the project to EC Research, this is the only possible route if you wish to proceed with this project. It remains the responsibility of the promoter-researcher, together with student, to take the appropriate steps to submit your project to the appropriate body after this OBC recommendation has been made. An initial approval from EC Research can also be obtained after which the S number is entered into the decision tree.
