Symptoms
The main features of sarcoidosis:
- Cough and shortness of breath
- Joint pain
- Skin abnormalities
- Eye issues
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Signs of hypercalcaemia (too much calcium in the blood)
- Heart problems
- Enlarged liver and spleen
Occurrence
Sarcoidosis can affect all organs, but the lungs and thoracic lymph nodes are the most common sites, followed by joints, skin, eyes, liver, heart, and kidneys.
In cases of granulomatous inflammation during childhood, hereditary causes and underlying immune disorders must also be investigated.
Treatments
Medications, with the choice depending on the severity, nature, and extent of the condition. Fine-tuning the treatment requires significant expertise from the physician.
