What can you come to us for?
The sports physiotherapy and rehabilitation department at the SMAC specialises in:
- The treatment of sports-specific injuries and post-operative rehabilitation, with the ultimate goal of achieving an optimal return to sport (competitive and elite level).
- Injury prevention, helping athletes avoid (recurring) injuries while engaging in sports.
Treatment process
The sports physiotherapist treats, guides, and advises competitive and elite athletes recovering from sports injuries.
- Each treatment starts with an anamnesis (assessment interview) and a clinical examination. Individual treatment goals are set in consultation with the athlete.
- The treatment follows an active approach, focusing on functional and sports-specific therapy.
- Depending on the individual case, additional techniques may be used (taping, manual therapy, dry needling, myofascial therapy, etc.).
- Home exercise programmes encourage the athlete to actively participate in their rehabilitation process.
