Aftercare and follow-up after heart surgery

Being discharged from the hospital can evoke different emotions. In the hospital, you feel safe and supported. Once back home, you are once again reliant on yourself and your surroundings, which may lead to (practical) questions and uncertainties.

Below, you will find general information about recovery, follow-up, and rehabilitation after your heart surgery. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our ward.

Follow-up after heart surgery

After your hospital stay, your follow-up care will be provided by various healthcare professionals, such as your cardiologist and your general practitioner. For certain surgeries, additional follow-up with a cardiac surgeon is also required.
