We do not recommend giving your baby a dummy during the first week after childbirth and during growth spurts. The sucking techniques for the breast and the dummy differ from each other, which can cause nipple confusion in babies and they start drinking incorrectly from the breast. A dummy is also inadvisable because it comforts your baby too quickly, which will delay the next feed.
As a result, the milk production is less stimulated and the baby does not gain sufficient weight.
