Frequently asked questions
This varies individually. Usually for 1 year to 18 months. To obtain a good result, the pressure garment must be worn adequately, i.e. ALWAYS worn day and night. The pressure garment is only left off during moisturising, washing, swimming, physical therapy and possibly during sports.
Always follow the company's washing instructions provided. You should wash your clothes at least every 2 days because dirty clothes lose their elasticity. Use neutral soap (Marseille®, etc.), do not use added detergents such as whitening agents or fabric softener. Do not tumble dry.
Yes
As an adult burn patient, you are entitled to 6 pieces of pressure garments at a term of 2 years after the accident. For gloves or socks, you are entitled to 8 pieces. Children up to 18 years are entitled to 8 pieces over the same period for all body regions.
For silicone supplements (plasters, customised inserts, collars and masks), you are always entitled to 4 pieces (although always related to the burnt body area to be treated).
If corrective surgery is performed, one is again entitled to half the above-mentioned quantities for one year after the operation and only for the operated area.
No
Only part of the UV light is filtered partly by the mask and partly by the silicone. It does not provide total sun protection. UV A radiation (responsible for ageing of the skin) is still let through.
When wearing a pressure mask, you should avoid the sun as much as possible, wear a cap or sun hat and always seek shady places or briefly sit under an umbrella in the shade.
Decide between using moisturiser or lotion and wearing silicone, but never both at the same time.
No silicone plasters or silicone devices should ever be applied to open wounds or blisters.
