Person-centred and compassionate care
At UZ Leuven, we aim to push boundaries by combining specialised care and innovative treatments with human attention and respect for every patient. We achieve this by living up to our core values daily: collaborating with each other and with our patients, being passionate about our mission and work, and showing warm hospitality and respect for all patients and colleagues.
To deliver compassionate and person-centred care, we focus on four key pillars, which guide every UZ Leuven employee in putting this vision into practice every day:
Patient participation
Engaging patients at various levels is essential to realise this vision and achieve patient empowerment.
We strive to give patients an active role and voice, both in their own care journey and in broader hospital initiatives. Patients are involved as equal partners, working together with healthcare providers as a team to improve the quality of care and life at UZ Leuven.
For the hospital, this patient participation represents a positive evolution that we embrace together with all our patients through various concrete projects and initiatives.
