Choosing a payment fund
There are 5 payment funds:
You are free to choose which payment fund you wish to join. The amounts are the same.
Requesting the initial payment
You can apply for the birth benefit four months before the estimated date of delivery. This request can be done in writing but also easily online.
Ask your doctor or midwife for a pregnancy certificate for this notification.
If you do not request the birth benefit before the 8th month of your pregnancy, it may not be paid until after the delivery.
Sending the birth certificate after the delivery
After your child is born, send the official birth certificate that you received from the Civil Registry by registered post or online to your payment fund.
About the Groeipakket
The Groeipakket refers to all family benefits (previously child benefits) and other financial allowances provided by the Flemish government.
