The neurology department focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the brain and spinal cord, nerves and muscles in adults. Children can visit the paediatrics department.

Bewegingsstoornissen

Omvangrijke groep van ziekten, waaronder ziekte van Parkinson, ziekte van Huntington, essentiële tremor... waarbij ongewilde en/of abnormale bewegingen ontstaan door een stoornis in de hersenen.

Beroerte (CVA)

Hersenbloeding, herseninfarct, hersentrombose... de term beroerte is een verzamelnaam voor aandoeningen die de bloedvatvoorziening van een deel van de hersenen treffen, in de volksmond ook wel een ‘attaque’ genoemd. Deze levensbedreigende situatie moet onmiddellijk behandeld worden.

Memory clinic

The memory clinic aims to offer help to adult patients with a progressive loss of memory, language, concentration or visual recognition or changes in behaviour or personality.

Epilepsie

Door plotse abnormale ontlading van een groep zenuwcellen in de hersenen ontstaat er kortsluiting en krijgt u herhaalde epileptische aanvallen.

Neuroinflammatoire ziekten

Groep van ontstekingsziekten waarin het centrale zenuwstelsel (hersenen en ruggenmerg) aangetast wordt.

Neuromusculair referentiecentrum (NMRC)

Het NMRC is gespecialiseerd in neuromusculaire ziekten bij kinderen en volwassenen. Bij deze ziekten treedt er een stoornis op in spieren, neuromusculaire junctie, perifere zenuw, motorneuron en/of kleine hersenen waardoor u motorische problemen of gevoelsstoornissen hebt.

Primaire hoofdpijn

Hoofdpijn die op zichzelf staat en dus niet het gevolg is van bloedingen, tumoren of infecties.

Hospitalisatie 26

The stroke care unit provides care and treatment for patients in the acute phase of a stroke, among other things. This unit mainly accommodates patients from the neurology and neurosurgery departments.
